"Where...am I...?" Before he knows it, Kirito has made a full-dive into an epic, fantasy-like virtual world. With only a murky recollection of what happened right before he logged in, he starts to wander around, searching for clues. He comes upon an enormous, pitch dark tree (the Gigas Cedar), where he encounters a boy. "My name is Eugeo. Nice to meet you, Kirito." Although he is supposedly a resident of the virtual world – an NPC – the boy shows the same array of emotions as any human being. As Kirito bonds with Eugeo, he continues to search for a way to log out of this world. Meanwhile, he remembers a certain memory deep down within him. He remembers racing through the mountains with Eugeo as a child... A memory that he should not have in the first place. And in this memory, he sees someone other than Eugeo, a young blond girl. Her name is Alice. And it is a name that must never be forgotten...

SERAFHIM currently @ ep 6, now i remember why this setting was so familiar. the soul translator is a 100% concept from SOMA a science fiction survival horror video game developed and published by Frictional Games. mixed emotions currently. dont know what to say, if im elated or disappointed. all i know is that sao is still a 100% interesting anime

Krystalia_Ucara I have to say, I'm not entirely unimpressed by this season thus far watching into it however there are some flaws about it regardless that many have addressed. The pacing for this season just feels wrong regardless of any possible reasoning for it. The creators of this story have a choice in how their story is portrayed and unfortunately the balance is too heavy on either side. The fighting in this season in the first portion being during the first opening episodes either ended with draws or battles ending for a specific interruption of some sort (minus one very distinct exception). As of this episode 16 we have re-entered another climb to the top of a tower scenario and it becomes very lethargic to watch this scenario again. That being said the world building albeit long-winded and scattered does serve a purpose towards the story I suppose, I just hope that it at least leads to somewhere because it can start to feel like fluff after a bit. My main issue with this is simply that we are just learning now about the motivations of a main villain but its only dealing with the world that Kirito is in when we still have us wondering how does this affect the outside world if at all. Lots of questions to be answered still.

darleneartist3 I have watched all the episodes so far and find the story interesting. I am not good with remembering names of caractors of a show. I am also not the best speller. I have felt the main male lead is on a journey. If he is in a world like ours then he will need to know the rules. The taboo index is the rule of the land put on all people because one person wanted complete control and eternal youth. kirito breaks the taboo as well as his friend. They are also trying to save Alice who is now a integrity knight. Kirito is also lost him memories. He thinks in game mode a lot. I feel he will gain them back when he reaches the final level in the castle. His friend wants to save Alice and helps Kirito out. All I can say is it is very well woven peice

KinD Yeah I can see why people are are really sick of exposition but I'm also dissapointed in hearing about it all the time. I like the world building aspect they put into this season 3 overall so far, and though it still feels like they are rushing it along to meet people's expectations for action scenes and fights we saw during season 1 Aincrad arc, its okay so to speak. Unlike season 1 where the was the ongoing conflict of trying to get back to the real world to invoke a sense or need to rush to the end, the pacing is a bit more laid back in that Kirito doesn't really have any clue of how to get back to the real world this time and is practically living in a world where nearly all forms of conflict are banned so he isn't really going to fighting that often and instead in every other episode.

neoneclipse @sice You call it a review but these are more like comments. I mean you yourself used the @user comment style. But regardless, not liking a character is a review too. And he gave his reasons.

sice @chimeraq. Jesus man, Kirito is the central focus, because that is the main point of the SAO anime, HE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER! Get some solid arguments for your reviews....

LiLDragonx New Spin to SAO and Great Story Line WHEN it develops fully in EP 6 and onwards, lots of confusion before that. The Story is building and take a while to get there, so enjoy the show and now it'll be great and you not worry of how crap what you're watching is right now lol. This Soul Translator machine and talks of the soul is very educational, i love where SAO has gone in the growth of the series.

chimeraq as of now im currently on episode 4(11/16/18) while sword art online is always stunningly beautiful with it's animations, graphics, characters and everything else it seems like the story side has fallen to some degree. the central focus is on kirito..again. falling into another world/virtual reality and kind of trying to regain his memories, and kind of trying to get back to reality. kirito's motivations for anything are either half assed or baseless. also looking back i have a ton of big "why" questions (that i wont spoil) but over all ii give this show a 5.5-6 /10.
